IniBuilds Airbus A340-300 for MSFS 2024: four engines for long-haul flights

IniBuilds Airbus A340-300 is not just another add-on for MSFS 2024, but an opportunity to feel at the helm of one of the most recognizable long-haul airliners of the late 90s and 2000s. The developers took all the developments from their previous projects and created an aircraft with deep system development.

What's inside the package

When purchasing, you get three variants of the A340-300: the classic passenger version, the Preighter (converted cargo version) and the ACJ business jet. This makes it possible to diversify flights - from regular flights with passengers to special cargo operations.

The model represents the A340-313 version with CFM56-5C4 engines. The peculiarity of these engines is their relatively low thrust, which makes the A340 “underpowered” by modern standards. And this is not a bug, but a feature! You'll feel the plane's real limitations: climb can take up to 40 minutes, and takeoff requires proper rotation technique to avoid tail-slamming.

Cabin to choose

IniBuilds offers two cockpit options: the classic EIS1 with CRT displays and analog instruments or the modern EIS2 with LCD screens. Both versions have been worked out to the smallest detail, including visual wear on panels and support for backup devices. Even the navigation display behaves differently depending on the cabin version.

FMS and automation

The flight control system is written from the ground up specifically for MSFS 2024. The FMS supports SID/STAR, secondary flight plans, accurate adherence to speed and altitude restrictions via LNAV/VNAV. Added integration with CPDLC via platforms like Hoppie for communication with controllers, as well as realistic GPS jamming in certain areas, affecting TCAS and GPWS.

Electronic Flight Bag

The redesigned EFB tablet became the aircraft's control center. Through it you can import flight plans from SimBrief, view geo-referenced airport maps, monitor the health of systems (oil, hydraulics, brakes, tires, batteries, APU), control ground equipment and even trigger faults to train ECAM procedures.

There is a takeoff and landing performance calculator that takes into account wind, aircraft weight and runway conditions. You can customize visual effects: dirt on the skin, weather effects, snow on the plane.

Flight Physics

Fly-by-Wire system is calibrated to the actual performance of the A340. The plane is heavier and less responsive than modern Airbuses. Rolls are smooth and progressive - the sidestick does not return abruptly to neutral, as on the A320. Landing requires more flare, and takeoff requires proper technique due to the limited thrust of the engines.

Detailed engine simulation includes EGT, fuel consumption, FADEC behavior, pressure and oil consumption. The traction model accurately conveys the characteristic "lethargy" of the A340 during acceleration.

Realism in the details

The temperature in the cabin changes dynamically depending on external conditions, the operation of the air conditioning system and the condition of the doors. The cabin is divided into zones: cockpit, front, middle and rear - each with its own temperature.

The windows have realistic rain effects with the ability to erase them with wipers. Emergency inflatable slides open visually when the doors are set to "armed" mode. Improved wing flex simulation takes into account fuel load, braking, speed and wind gusts.

Compatibility and integration

The plane is only available in MSFS 2024 through the in-game Marketplace for $59.99. Full integration with GSX Pro for realistic ground handling. Support for auto-saving system states allows you to continue your flight from where you left off.

Output

IniBuilds A340-300 is not a plane for those who want to take off and fly quickly. This is a simulation with its own character, requiring an understanding of the aircraft's limitations and proper flying technique. If you're interested in long-haul flights with a touch of nostalgia and the challenge of "underthrust", this addon is worth a look.

Four CFM56 engines, ocean flights, high-altitude long-climb missions all create a unique flight experience that differs from today's efficient airliners. IniBuilds promises to continue to update the aircraft with improved quality, so it's a long-term investment in your hangar.
